Concert Locations

At the beginning of each Tamil year, Pillai would procure a new “Sri Vidya Diary” from Raju Stores. He would then proceed to make entries of some engagements, which he knew would invariably come to him.

The first would be the dates of Arunagirinathar Festival that he conducted at Mayavaram and during that period he would not accept any outside engagements. Then would come the Masi Makam Festival at his native Tiruvengadu for which he deemed it an honour to perform. Another festival was the Tula Snanam event at Mayavaram. Yet another location was a Subramania Swami Temple at a village called “Palur” near Kancheepuram where Pillai performed for nearly 40 years during the annual festival. The Koppudai Amman Temple in Karaikudi was also a favourite location where Pillai would play on the nadhaswaram for the entire night during the Veedhi Vula of the Goddess. The Radha-Krishna Mahotsavams in the villages of Senthangudi and Anandatandavapuram were also events for which Pillai performed year after year. Besides these, he would participate regularly in the main events at the Saivite Mutts of Dharmapuram, Tirupanandal, Kundrakudi and Thiruvavaduthurai.

Besides this, there were certain families among whom, it was impossible to think of any happy occasion without the performance by Pillai. This included those of Director K. Subramanyam, Embar Vijayaraghavachariar and the Zamindar of Kovilpatti.
